Ipswich – Beatrice B. (Malloy) Kijek, wife of the late Longin J. Kijek, died Monday August 20, 2018 in the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester. Born in County Conamara, Ireland on November 30, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Steven and Mary (Jennings) Malloy.
She emigrated to the United States when she was a young girl. Beatrice and her husband Longin were married on April 27, 1946. They were married for 8 years before they adopted their son Longin, 1 ½ years later they would adopt their daughter Jayme. Mr and Mrs. Kijek raised their children in the Christian faith and taught about “Jesus the Christ” and his teaching of “Love one another as I have loved you”. She was predeceased by her husband Longin on September 6, 1981.
Mrs. Kijek is survived by her 2 children: son Longin C. Kijek and his wife Janice of Newburyport, and daughter Jane M. Woodman of Gloucester, her 2 grandsons: Matthew Merry and his wife Erin, and Jason Merry and his wife Lynsey and her 6 great-grandchildren: Matty, Brady, Penelope and Peyton, Jason, Jr. and Miles. She is also survived by her 101 year old sister Mary Ingeroski of Portland, ME and dozens of nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her 2 sisters: Helen Rice and Eileen Moore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday September 1st. at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich, family and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will follow the Mass in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. There will be no visiting hours.
