Carol M. (Carey) McCarthy, 81, wife of the late William J. McCarthy, Sr., died Monday afternoon October 15, 2018 in her home in Ipswich surrounded by her family after a long illness. Born in Ipswich on August 20, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Arthur T. and Simonne M. M. (Porter) Carey.
Mrs. McCarthy was a life long resident of Ipswich, she was a graduate of Ipswich High School. She was a homemaker who took care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the longest resident of Cable Gardens in Ipswich, she had been a resident there for over 25 years. Mrs. McCarthy was predeceased by her husband William on August 16, 1996. She was also predeceased by her son Robert on January 3, 2015.
Mrs. McCarthy is survived by her 5 children and their spouses: William J. Jr. and Debbie McCarthy, Timothy K. and Michelle McCarthy, Jeremiah J. and Babette McCarthy, Kellie A. McCarthy, all of Ipswich, and Charles W. McCarthy of Rockport. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren: Billy III and his wife Meredith, Shaun and his wife Shari, Courtney and Justin, Erica, Megan and Brianna, Dennis, Charles, Jr. Cody, Caleb and Cassie and by her 6 great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCarthy is survived by her 3 sisters: Sheila Baldinelli, Jane Carey Howard and Marcia Greenough, many nieces and nephews and her dearest friend Nancy Fuller. Mrs. McCarthy was also predeceased by her sister Madeline Abbott.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday October 19th. at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Burial will follow in the New Highland Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Visiting hours will be Thursday October 18th. from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Morris Funeral Home 45 North Main Street, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
