Dorothy T. (Levesque) Barkowski, 81, of Ipswich, MA passed away peacefully on March 30, 2018, at The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA surrounded by her family following a long illness. She was the wife of Joseph Alexander Barkowski Jr. with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Amesbury, Mass. The daughter of the late Leo and Loretta (Brousseau) Levesque and was the ninth born out of 13 siblings.
Dorothy was mainly a homemaker. In the late 60's she was employed at the "old" Sylvania in Ipswich and later she worked many years at The Ipswich Shellfish Co. In her younger years, Dorothy enjoyed square dancing, ceramics, camping and knitting. She loved to cook and was known for her very popular "Galumpkis" which she made for everyone.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Joseph and five children: Ronald Barkowski and his wife Diane, Joseph Barkowski III and his Fiance' Jan Carney, Diane (Barkowski) Veno, Pamela Barkowski and her Fiance Brian Sarro, and Sharon Barkowski.
Also leaving 7 Grandchildren: Michele, Nicole, Stephanie, Lori, Joseph IV, Eric, and Jessica; 7 Great-Grandchildren: Taylor, Dallas, Devon, Samuel, Drew, Les, and Tessa. She was the sister of: Elaine Sturgis of Salisbury Mass, Shirley Bellon of Ludlow Mass, and Karen Morin of Maine. Predeceased by her siblings: Beatrice, Kay, Loretta, Louise, Delia, Leo, Butch, Robert and Dennis where she has now joined them in heaven.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to funeral services on Wednesday, April 4th, in the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main St., Ipswich, MA at noon.
