Edward Adamczyk, 92, husband of Helen S. (Pikul) Adamczyk, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Tuesday August 6, 2019. Born in Haverhill on July 29, 1927 he was the son of the late Thomas and Annie (Wezesa) Adamczyk.
Mr. Adamczyk attended Haverhill High School before enlisting in the Army in 1950. As a member of the 187th. Airborne Regional Combat Division, he earned the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he graduated with honors from the Northeast Institute of Industrial Technology and worked for 29 years at Lincoln Labs at MIT in Boston. He was a member of the American Legion Post# 80 and was a former member of the Polish League of American Veterans Fabian Weltchek Post# 92, both of Ipswich and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Adamczyk was also a lifetime member of the Industrial Technical Engineering Society. He was a long time member of the Sacred Heart Polish Catholic Church of Ipswich. He loved his garden and he could fix anything.
Mr. Adamczyk is survived by, in addition to his wife of 63 years Helen, his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his 2 brothers: Alexander and Stanley and by his sister Josephine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday August 8th. at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will follow with military honors in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. There will be no visiting hours.
