Edward Walsh Obituary

Ipswich – Edward W. Walsh, 77, retired Ipswich Police officer, husband of Angela (Garza) Walsh, died Monday morning January 15, 2018 in his home after a long battle with cancer. Born in Newburyport on October 25, 1940 he was the son of the late John P. and Eunice H. (Walley) Walsh. Mr. Walsh began his career as a Police Officer with the Town of Ipswich on August 25, 1969 . He served for 36 dedicated years and retired on August 25, 2005. Officer Walsh was a member of the IPD’s Domestic Assault Response Team, he was the Union President as well. He was a member of the Irish American Police Officer’s Association. Once he retired as a Police Officer he would serve as the Dockmaster at the Town Wharf for several years. Mr. Walsh was very social, he loved to dine out with his friends. He would organize many social bus trips to: New York City, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Mr. Walsh loved animals. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Mr. Walsh is survived by, in addition to his wife Angela, his 5 stepchildren: Coulette Garza of Wenham, Kelli Rollins and her boyfriend Anthony Cecere of Manchester, NH, Christopher Rollins and his girlfriend Britany Carr of Beverly, Jill Meers of CT and Doug Hancock of Fl. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren; Visiting hours will be Friday January 19th. from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Morris Funeral Home 45 North Main Street, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
