Jean R. (Chouinard) Poirier, 82, of Ipswich, wife of the late Albin Poirier, passed away peacefully
surrounded by family on March 28, 2018 after a brief illness.
Born to Nelson and Avis Chouinard on February 6, 1936, she grew up in Rowley. She graduated from the
Lynn School of Nursing and had a long and fulfilling career as a registered nurse, working at various
hospitals and nursing homes on the North Shore until her retirement . In her later years she involved
herself in her hobbies, which included reading, following politics, researching Alzheimer’s, and making
handmade gifts for her family and friends from her knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. She also
enjoyed visiting Salisbury Beach to eat fried dough and watch the waves, and taking meandering rides
through Maine and New Hampshire.
She was survived by her son Robert and his wife, her son Paul; and her daughter Lisa, six grandchildren,
and one great grandchild. At the time of her passing, she also left behind four brothers; Harry
Chouinard, Danny Chouinard, Nelson Chouinard, Anthony Chouinard and his wife Marion and her sister
in law, Alma Caren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
