Ipswich – Jeffrey N. Phaneuf, 64, husband of Maureen A. (Hurley) Phaneuf, died peacefully on Sunday December 23, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after battling cancer for 2 ½ years. Born in Syracuse, NY on May 24, 1954 he was the son of the late Frederick R. and Margaret E. (Mallahan) Phaneuf.
Jeff was employed for 43 years at the General Electric Riveworks in Lynn. He spent most of his career as a jet engine mechanic, he was proud of the fact that he was involved in building and maintaining the engines of the F-18 fleet which includes the Navy Blue Angels. Jeff was duly noted for celebrations given by his coffee committee. Jeff was a season ticket holder for the Patriots for over 20 years. He also enjoyed the Celtics as a season ticket holder also for over 20 years. He followed closely all the Boston sports teams.
Jeff is survived by, in addition to his wife Maureen of Ipswich, his 3 brothers and their wives: Rick and Shannon Phaneuf of Orlando, FL, Mark and Bonnie Phaneuf, Brian and Gina Phaneuf, all of Ipswich. He is also survived by his 14 nieces and nephews who adored him: Keith, Casey, Caitlin, Steven, Taylor, Brian, Maureen, Kevin, Ayesha, Ijaz, Sairah, Tia, Mehr and Loren. They spent many beautiful days: camping, hiking, skiing, beaching and enjoying the great outdoors of New England. Jeff is also survived by his 22 grandnieces and grandnephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday December 29th. at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Visiting hours will be held Friday December 28th. from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Morris Funeral Home 45 North Main Street, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
