Ipswich – Stella C. (Gurynski) Smith, 99, wife of the late Frank T. Smith, entered into eternal life Thursday evening, January 18, 2018, at the Sea View Retreat in Rowley. Born in Ipswich in 1918, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Stefania (Staniorski) Gurynski. Mrs. Smith was a life-long resident of Ipswich and a life-long communicant of the former Sacred Heart Parish. A member of the last graduating class of the former Manning High School in Ipswich, Class of 1936, she was its last surviving member. Mrs. Smith and her husband were married in 1940 and shared 50 years of marriage. She was employed at Sylvania in Ipswich for 23 years as a Quality Inspector and Supervisor. Mrs. Smith was a Girl Scout leader for several years and later volunteered at the Winthrop School Library. An accomplished seamstress and knitter, she taught 4th graders sewing and knitting in their after school program. Mrs. Smith volunteered at the Ipswich Council-on-Aging, and participated in their Senior Knitting and Quilting programs. She took many continuing education courses throughout her lifetime. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1990. Mrs. Smith is survived by daughter Barbara Pierce and her husband David of Rowley, son Thomas Smith and his partner Ken McDonald of New Castle NH. She is also survived by her nephew Edward Dziadul and his wife Pasqua of Port Washington NY, her niece Suzanne Morrill and her husband Russell and family of Ft. Myers FL, and her grandniece Christine Ferramosca and her husband Frank and their daughter Natalie Stella of Rockville Centre NY. She was also predeceased by her sister Natalie Dziadul. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018, 11:30am, at the New Highland Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. All are respectfully invited to attend. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Smith’s name to The Ipswich Humane Group, P.O. Box 873, Ipswich, MA 01938.
