Theresa M. (Sweeney) Jensen, 92, wife of the late Harold L. Jensen, died unexpectedly Friday evening December 13, 2019 in the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington. Born in Ipswich on January 15, 1927 she was the daughter of the late John D. and Yvonne M. (Roy) Sweeney.
Raised and educated in Ipswich Mrs. Jensen worked for the former Hayes Hosiery in Ipswich, later she was employed for several years at Sylvania in Ipswich. In 1962 Mrs. Jensen and her husband Harold took over the former Panther Club in Ipswich from her father. She and her husband would reopen the pub as Theresa and Harold’s Place in Depot Square , Ipswich. They would operate the pub until their retirement in 1982. Mrs. Jensen then became “Grammy” to her grandchildren whom she helped raise. She loved line dancing and traveling with her husband in their motor home. Mrs. Jensen was very active in several Council-on-Aging groups and took many trips with those groups. She loved her family, friends and family gatherings, she also enjoyed her clambakes. She was predeceased by her husband Harold on November 23, 2005.
Mrs. Jensen is survived by her 2 children: Melanie Equi and her husband Roger of Ipswich, Hans Jensen and his fiancée Suzanne of Haverhill. Her 4 grandchildren: John Equi, Taylor Equi, Nicole Darmody and Hans Jensen and 3 great-grandchildren: Stephanie Darmody, Madison Darmody and Emily Jensen-Doran. She is also survived by her 2 sisters: Priscilla Nadeau of Ipswich and Ann Barclay of Seabrook, NH, as well as several nieces, nephews and a special friend Janice Equi of Ocala, FL. Mrs. Jensen was also predeceased by her 8 brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday December 19th. at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich, burial will follow in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Visiting hours will be Wednesday December 18th. from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Morris Funeral Home 45 North Main Street, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
