Catherine Cavanaugh, of Ipswich, MA, died Sunday, November 29, 2020, peacefully at home and surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and caring, and will be deeply missed.
She was born in Gloucester, MA, and daughter of Pauline (Testaverde) and Lawrence Scola and was the eldest of ten children.
She spent 60 wonderful years with her beloved husband Robert, from whom she is pre-deceased, making a beautiful and loving home for her family. She had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor, was an amazing cook and baker, and made entertaining family and friends on special holidays or just the regular Sunday pool party - seem effortless. As a loving wife, devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother, she was loved by all who knew her, and cherished her children and grandchildren above all else.
She is survived by her sons Robert J. Cavanaugh, Jr., of Ipswich; Gary Cavanaugh, his wife Jenifer (Burbidge) Cavanaugh and their children Claire and Colin of Newbury; her daughter Patrice (Cavanaugh) Murray and her husband Steven Murray and their children Chelsae and Dylan of Ipswich; as well as her sister Phyllis (Scola) Misuraca, her brother John Scola and wife Kathleen, brother Paul Scola and wife Maureen, brother-in-law Paul Cavanaugh, sisters-in-law Leah Scolaand Phyllis Aiello Scola andmany nieces and nephews.
She is also predeceased by her siblings Rose (Scola) Misuraca, Pauline (Scola) Linquata, Joseph Scola, Peter Scola, Larry Scola, MaryAnn (Scola) Jones as well as her sisters-in-law Patricia(Cavanaugh) Putnam and Phyllis (Cavanaugh) Meagher.
Funeral services will be private.
