Catherine B. Erickson, 70, died peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Jeffrey & Susan Brudnick Center for Living, in Peabody, MA, following a sudden illness.
Born on September 26, 1952 in Waltham, MA, Catherine was the daughter of Warren M. and Denise P. (Ryan) Odenthal. After graduating from Salem State College with a Bachelors in Education, she had a long and successful career as a high school science teacher, working at schools in San Bernadino, CA, and throughout Massachusetts. She eventually retired from teaching in 2022. Catherine also studied Polarity Therapy, and became an Interfaith Minister through the Chaplaincy Institute of Maine (CHIME), in 2007. In addition to her friendships with fellow CHIME Interfaith Ministers, Catherine enjoyed the love and community she experienced with the Unity fellowship in Amesbury, MA.
Catherine was predeceased by her son Kevin Erickson, and her brother Michael Odenthal. She is survived by her son Sean Erickson and her daughter-in-law Aga Tamiola-Erickson of Berlin, Germany, her brother James Odenthal of Phoenixville, PA, her sisters Mary (Odenthal) Behnke of Manchester, NH, Rita (Odenthal) Gavel of Syracuse, NY, and Denise (Odenthal) Huntley and her husband Robert, of Londonderry, NH, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Catherine made many lifelong friendships, especially those with her high school friend Ann Regis of New York, NY and her Unity friend Will Langton.
The family thanks the staff of Salem Hospital and the Jeffrey & Susan Brudnick Center for Living, for the compassionate and expert care she received at the end of her life.
A private graveside service was held Friday February 10th. in the family lot in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich.
