Charles J. Galanis, 79, died on March 6, 2026, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Sandra (Woodworth) Galanis. Born in Ipswich on February 14, 1947; he was the son of the late John and Christine (Gianakis) Galanis.
Chuck was a graduate of Ipswich High School, Class of 1965. He was a longtime electronic technician civil servant for the US Air Force at Hanscom Air Force Base. He was an avid baseball player and enthusiast. Chuck loved playing baseball for the Ipswich Tigers, Ipswich Chiefs and the Ipswich Over 30 Softball League. He enjoyed traveling all over New England to watch his sons and grandchildren play various sports. Chuck also loved animals and spent time volunteering at the Ipswich Animal Shelter, after retirement. He was a lifelong Ipswich resident.
Chuck was the proud father of his sons Timothy and his wife Sarah Player of Ipswich, and James and his wife Jamie of Tewksbury. He loved his grandchildren: Rowan, Nina, Evan, and Nathan Galanis. Chuck is also survived by his siblings: Paul, James and his wife Mimma, Jane and Lewis Galanis and several nieces and nephews.
Chuck’s family wishes to express their gratitude for the compassionate care and kindness he received from the staff at Blair House in Tewksbury and New England Hospice.
