Doris Beagan, a cherished educator and beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on November 25, 1943, in New York City, Doris pursued her passion for education, earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island and a Master of Science in Education from Nazareth College.
It was at the University of Rhode Island where Doris met her loving husband, John Beagan. They enjoyed a beautiful marriage that spanned 60 years, marked by deep love and mutual support. Together, they lovingly raised three children: Sharon MacEachron, Erin Logemann, and the late Patrick Beagan.
Doris dedicated her career to shaping young minds as a first-grade teacher, with her final position at St. Mary's in Beverly, Massachusetts. Her commitment to excellence in education was recognized when she received the Outstanding Teacher of the Year award, a testament to her dedication and impact on her students.
Throughout her life, Doris lived in several areas, but she primarily called Ipswich, Massachusetts, and Naples, Florida, her homes. Her warm presence and kind spirit made her a cherished member of these communities. Doris was also a dedicated board member of the Catholic Women's Club of Ipswich. She was a Eucharist Minister and a dedicated member of the Catholic Womens Club.
Doris was fortunate to travel all over the world, experiencing diverse cultures and meeting new people. She greatly enjoyed playing social games, especially bridge, and could often be found participating in water aerobics. Doris also loved a great book and had a special fondness for ice cream, which brought her much joy.
For over 50 years, Doris was a proud member of the Ipswich Bay Yacht Club, where she enjoyed sailing events and the camaraderie of dear friends.
In recent years, Doris faced the challenge of Parkinson's disease with remarkable strength and grace. Despite her diagnosis, she remained active and continued to inspire those around her with her positive outlook and resilience.
In addition to her husband John “Jack” and their children, Doris is survived by her older brother, Richard Walter of California, and 7 grandchildren who will forever treasure her memory. Her legacy of compassion, dedication to education, and love for her family and community will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Tuesday August 13, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Hope Church 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Following the Mass, the burial will take place at New Highland Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich.

Doris will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
