Eileen Dorothy Gromko, beloved wife of Allen Gromko, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 13th, 2025 at Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire.
Eileen was born on May 21, 1945, in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of George and Dibby Allen along with her two sisters Karen and Lorraine.
Eileen & Al met at Tenafly High School, where she graduated. She went on to attend Lasell Junior College, earning a degree in Art and Interior Design.
Eileen and Al married in December 1966. They began their life together in Stratford, New Jersey before relocating to Ipswich Massachusetts in 1979. While raising a family Eileen ambitiously owned & operated her own business, Castle Cleaning Service. She also gave back to her community by volunteering at the Ipswich Library for several years. Eileen’s last career ambition was as an Executive Administrative Assistant at Essex County Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA a role in which she loved & flourished before retiring in December 2013.
The most important things to Eileen were her faith, close friends, New England and most of all family. She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother to her three children, and loving grandmother to her nine grandchildren and great granddaughter. Her greatest joy was spending time with family. Her passion for art extended to the grandkids in painting rocks, murals, and decorating the dollhouse she and Al built together. She also loved animals, most fondly Labrador Retrievers. Eileen was a family historian who worked for countless hours preserving photographs, letters and documents and made them into books that the family will cherish forever.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Karen & Lorraine and several dear close friends. Eileen is survived by her loving husband, Allen Gromko and her daughter Susan and husband Bill Kopecky, her daughter Alison and husband Harold Lafoe and her son Michael and his wife Jaclyn Gromko. As well as her beloved grandchildren, Holly, Kendra, Brian, Andrew, Emily, Katelynn, Estelle, William, and Sawyer as well as her great granddaughter Hadley Eileen Easter, Holly & her husband Colby’s daughter.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 18th at 11am at the First Church in Ipswich, 1 Meetinghouse Green. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the: Ipswich Public Library or the Ipswich Humane Group. To send a condolence to the Gromko family please go to: MorrisFH.com.
