Ipswich – Helen M. Lafoe, 88, wife of the late Thomas C. Lafoe, died peacefully early Sunday morning January 27, 2019 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
Born in Salem she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Kempka) Hajdys of Salem. Helen was a graduate of Beverly High School. She enjoyed: needlepoint, knitting mittens, visiting Brownington, Vermont and Daytona Beach, Florida. She also enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and she loved her cats. Helen was predeceased by her husband Tom on March 28, 1995.
Helen is survived by her 7 children and their spouses: Thomas Lafoe, Carlene Lombardi, Sheron and Roland Gagnon, Crystal and Eric Galicki, Millie and Mark Toth, John Lafoe, Harold and Alison Lafoe. She is also survived by her: 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her 3 children: Kathereen Lafoe, David Scott Lafoe and Christine Lafoe. She was also predeceased by her 4 siblings: Boleslaw Hajdys, Genevieve White, Alice DeFranzo and Stephen Hajdys.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday January 30th. at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Burial will follow in the New Highland Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Visiting hours will be Tuesday January 29th. from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Morris Funeral Home 45 North Main Street Ipswich, MA 01938.
