Jane “Jenny” Galanis Droukis, 97, of Ipswich passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family House in Danvers on December 1, 2019. Born in Ipswich on December 22, 1921 she was the daughter of the lat John and Helen Dres Galanis.
She graduated Ipswich High School, Class of 1940.
She was the wife of the late John Paul Droukis.
“Jenny” was loved by the many customers at the family business, the Agawam Diner in Rowley, where she worked for over 70 years. She enjoyed putting together bus trips to casinos, reading and would ofter swap books with family and friends. She loved taking walks on the beach. She was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Ipswich.
Surviving her are her son and daughter in law Daniel and Akiko of Kitakyshu, Japan and her daughter Gloria of Ipswich. She was the legal guardian and aunt to Joyce Geanoulis MacNamarra of Danvers and the late John “Fougie” Geanoulis. She was the sister of the late Ethel Geanoulis, Emily Murphy, Georgia Pappas and Peter, William, Andrew and Louis Galanis. She is also survived by her sister in laws Georgia Galanis and Christine Galanis both of Ipswich and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Morris Funeral Home in Ipswich. A private burial will take place on Thursday October 15, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. For those invited to attend the service all must: wear facial coverings, practice social distancing and all must remember to not come in physical contact with those in attendance due to the pandemic.
