Judith "Judy" (Achramowicz) Welsh

Judith (Judy) Ann Welsh, born April 15, 1942 to Barbara Claxton Achramowicz and John Achramowicz Sr. in Ipswich, MA, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025 in Oro Valley, AZ.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Achramowicz Jr., sister Helen Achramowicz Burns, her second husband James (Jim) Welsh and son Larry Welsh.  Judy is survived by her daughter Nora Dow Encinas, step-son Michael Welsh, and four children that Jim and Judy adopted, Edward Welsh, Crystal Welsh, Jessica Welsh Marshall, and James (Jamie) Welsh).  She is also survived by her sister Susan Messenger and numerous grandchildren.

Judy graduated from Ipswich High School in 1960.  She studied French at Mount Saint Mary College in Hooksett, NH.  She also spent a year in France studying for her degree, in French and Philosophy.   After graduating from Mount Saint Mary, she married her high school and college sweetheart, Ronald Dow in 1964, whom she met while working at the Ipswich Dairy Ice Cream Shop.  They had a daughter together, Nora.  Judy was a French teacher before she decided to teach Special Education.  She married her second husband Jim in 1984.  Jim and Judy fostered children through the years before they adopted five siblings.  Judy loved her family, children, especially babies and all animals.  She was a feisty and fun loving person.  She thoroughly loved life and wanted to live forever.  She will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held Friday  September 5, 2025  at  10:00 A.M.  in the New Highland Cemetery  29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited.  In lieu of flowers you can send memorial contributions to The Dementia Society of America.   Assisting the Welsh family is the Morris Funeral Home of Ipswich.  To send a letter  of condolence to Judy’s family please go to:  MorrisFH.com .
