Obituary

Ipswich – Lorraine L. (McCarthy) Bartniski, 69, wife of the late Walter M. Bartniski, died Tuesday afternoon  December 15, 2020  in the Beverly Hospital after a short illness as the result of complications from Covid-19.  Born in Lynn on  January 9, 1951  she was the daughter of the late Donald F. and Phyllis L. (Raymond) McCarthy.                                                                              

         Lorraine was raised and educated in Lynn.  She married her husband Walter in 1971 and they made their home in Ipswich.  She had been a hairdresser for many years.  Lorraine took care of everyone in her family.  She enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s games including:  hockey, softball, baseball and figure skating.  Lorraine looked forward to going to her friend’s home at  3:00 P.M. every day for coffee with her lifelong friends.  She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.  Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Walt on  April 18th. of this year.

          Lorraine is survived by her son Peter Bartniski of Ipswich, her 3 grandchildren:  Tyler and Owen Bartniski and Tori Demetrio.   She is also survived by her 2 brothers  Dennis McCarthy and his wife Brenda of Ipswich, Raymond  McCarthy and his wife Helga of Amesbury, her sister and best friend Joyce McCarthy of Ipswich, her sister-in-law Lorraine McCarthy of Texas and several nieces and nephews.  Lorraine was also predeceased by her daughter  Kristen Demetrio formerly of Amesbury and her brother  Donald McCarthy formerly of Texas.

          A private graveside service will be held in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery  29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Lorraine’s name to:  Care Dimensions Hospice  75 Sylvan Street  Danvers, MA  01923.   Assisting the Bartniski family is the Morris Funeral Home of Ipswich.  To send a condolence to the family please go to:  MorrisFH.com .
