On Monday. May 18th 2020 Margaret (Peg) J. Cannell, loving mother of two children and six grandchildren passed away after a nine year battle with lung cancer at the age of 73. She passed away peaceful holding hands with her daughters Kristin and Heather.
Peg was born in Bronxville, NY on April 27th, 1947 to Margaret and Lester. She was a graduate of Briarcliff High School at the age of 18 and became a mother of two by age 21. Peggy raised her two girls while running her show stable, Bally Bay Farm in Altamont NY.
Peg had a passion for writing and authored many articles over the years as well as her book, ‘Winning Ways'. She was an entrepreneur who dreamed of financial stability through business ideas such as; Shellac a Shit, Stable Income, Legacy, Kidselect. She was also a photographer, graphic artist, radio personality, veterinary manager and wrote summaries for articles at EBSCO.
Peg was happiest with her barn families beginning at Dutch Manor, then going out on her own at Ballybay. She sold the farm once her daughters we raised and ran show stables in New Jersey, Chicago, California, and Colorado. She was a leader, coach, mentor, teacher, friend, and mother to many students over the years.
Peg was preceded in death by her father Lester, her mother Margaret, and her brother James. She is survived by her daughters Kristin and Heather and her son-in-laws David and John, and her six grandchildren Quinn, Lydia, Brennan, Cameron, Kellen and Lauren as well as her pup, Boo.
Peg has requested a party in lieu of a funeral. Due to COVID-19 we will celebrate her life via ZOOM. Please email hwaters34@gmail.com if you would like additional details.
