Marie (Walton) Companion

Marie (Walton) Companion, 85, of Ipswich, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on  June 24, 2021, surrounded by family.

Marie was born on  February 5, 1936, and was raised in Salem, Massachusetts.  She eventually moved to Hamilton, Massachusetts, where she spent many years bringing up her own children.

Whether making earrings, decorating boxes, or assembling a 5,000-piece puzzle, Marie loved arts, crafts, and any task that allowed her inherent creativity and perseverant nature to shine.  She was happiest spending time with her family and friends at Cable Gardens, where she was always ready to engage in a spirited game of cards, Left Right Center, or Bingo, or to dance to Elvis Presley records. She loved jewelry, glitter, and rhinestones.  An animal lover at heart, Marie treasured her beautiful Pomeranian Nikita, who she had for many years.

Marie was predeceased by her husband and best friend of 30 years, Frank Companion.  She is survived by her children  Peter Walton, of Danvers, Mass, Thomas Walton, of Hamilton, Mass, Linda (Walton) Healey of Plaistow, NH and Cynthia Walton of Atkinson, NH.  She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday  July 23, 2021  at  11:00 A.M.  in Hamilton Cemetery  623 Bay Road, Hamilton, Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marie’s name to:  the Cape Ann Animal Aid located at 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, Mass  01930.  Assisting the family is the Morris Funeral Home of Ipswich.  To send a letter of condolence to the family please go to:  MorrisFH.com .
