Mary Ruest Obituary

IPSWICH—Mary A. (Broderick) Ruest, 86, died Thursday, August 2, 2018 following a lengthy illness.  She was the wife of the late Joseph Ruest, with whom she shared fifty-nine years of marriage.

Born in Somerville on Aug. 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Anna (Mansfield) Broderick.  She was raised and educated in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School.  Following graduation, she worked first at the Watertown Arsenal and then as a clerk for the City of Somerville.

Raising her children, she was a dedicated homemaker who always kept a second job to help support her family.

A longtime Ipswich resident, Mary was a hostess at the Ipswich Council on Aging where she established the Silver Strands, a senior citizens choral group.  She volunteered her time at the Ipswich Visitor Center and as a Sunday School teacher at Our Lady of Hope Church.

She leaves two daughters, Carol Ruest of Amesbury and Joellen Catelotti and her husband Greg of Peru, MA, her granddaughter, Cameryn Catelotti, her sister, Kathleen Broderick, and her brother, John Broderick.  She was predeceased by her brothers Richard and Robert and her infant twin sister, Anna.
