Mary (Polychronopoulos) Williams passed away on April 16th 2025. She was born on December 20, 1934 in Ipswich, MA to Arete (Menounos) Polychronopoulos and Nicholas Polychronopoulos. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday, surrounded by family.
Mary married her 1953 Ipswich High School sweetheart, the late David C. Williams Jr., on August 13, 1955.
She is survived by her son Stephen and his wife Jean (Driscoll) Williams of Norwood, MA and her daughter Cheryl (Williams) Morris and her husband Michael Morris of Newburyport, MA.
Mary and Dave were blessed with four grandchildren. Courtney (Williams) Lawrie and her husband John, Brian Williams and his wife Michele, Haley (Morris) Kota and her husband John, and Megan (Williams) Gearty and her husband Colin. She also leaves behind her four great grandchildren, Jack Lawrie, Ellie Williams, Gavin Lawrie and Paige Mary Kota. She is also survived by 1 sister Patricia Gerrish of Newbury and many nieces and nephews. Mary was also predeceased by 2 brothers Angelo (Jim) and Peter Polychronopoulos and 2 sisters Ellen (Polly) Copeley and Betsy Zetes.
Mary loved her family deeply and her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. While Mary and Dave moved to the South Shore, Liverpool, NY, and Topsfield, MA where they met many friends, they always ended up back in their beloved town of Ipswich.
In addition to her love of family, Mary enjoyed Crane Beach and bowling with the Monday morning bowling team in Ipswich for many years. Mary loved clothes and was named best dressed in her class. As a friend recently said, “Mary was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.”
Prior to her passing, Mary was taken care of by the wonderful Masconomet Healthcare staff in Topsfield, MA where she enjoyed meeting new friends and participating in all activities.

Services and burial will be private.
