Meredith R. Drinkwater, better known as Boo, was born on February 10, 1942, in Ipswich and spent the majority of her life contributing to the community, cherishing the town and her life long friends.
Boo raised her two children Cassandra and Trevor in Ipswich and famously was their bus driver throughout their time in the public school system. She is the daughter of Jerome and Louise Richardson and survived by her sister Stephanie Gaskins, her daughter Cassandra and husband Craig and her son Trevor and wife Kristi, as well as her grandchildren Anthony, Dylan and Paxton, her beloved dogs Mr. Bones and Lulu and all those that called her Auntie Boo.
After her children graduated college, Boo spent nearly 10 years in California to help raise her grandchildren and then 20 years in Greenville Maine where she spent summers growing up. As she did in Ipswich, in Greenville, she became an active member of the community leading the Garden Club and enjoying time with her friends knitting and rug hooking.
She recently moved back to Ipswich and was able to spend time with her sister, lifelong friends Nancy Linehan and Bonnie Maguire and the many other close friends she had known for so long.
Boo is best known for her infectious laugh, graciousness, and willingness to work hard and help all those in need. She could frequently be found knitting, rug hooking, working in the garden, chopping wood, feeding the deer, or just enjoying time with her friends. She will be remembered as a person of impact, dedication, and oversized love.
Meredith passed in her home on January 8, 2024 just shy of her 82nd birthday and will be buried with her father, mother, aunt, sister Beth and niece privately in the South Side Cemetery. A celebration of life will be scheduled to allow those who were positively impacted by her to cry, laugh and remember her legacy. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 27, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ascension Memorial Church 31 County Street, Ipswich, all are respectfully invited to attend.
