Peter John McKee Obituary
Peter John McKee of Island Park Road passed away at home on April 13, 2026 at the age of 89 and 1/2.
Pete married Eileen Connors. Together, they had two boys, Darren and Brady.
Pete was born in Hingham. He moved his family to Steamboat Springs, Colorado for a year to escape the Great Blizzard of ‘78. While he was there, he finished his second novel “East Coast Bloke”. It’s an awesome book.
Wanting a change of pace, when Pete returned his family to Massachusetts, he turned his back on the south shore to live in Cape Ann. Finding a dead end dirt road and a small stucco home with the world’s greatest view of the marsh fronting the glorious back side of Crane Beach, Pete settled in for a smooth 47 years.
Pete hated Vietnam, Nixon, Reagan and both Bush Presidents. However, nothing made him more sick to his stomach than our current despicable Commander in Cheat.
But understand this, Pete was a First Lieutenant in the Army. Something our current president can’t claim. He was also a two sport college athlete at Northeastern (Baseball/Hockey). Again, something Trump could only dream or lie about. Also, it’s a guaranteed fact, he would’ve kicked Trump’s rear end in golf, especially if he got him on his favorite course in the world, Farm Neck Golf Course in Martha’s Vineyard.
Pete actually wrote TWO novels AND was a prolific painter. In fact, if you want to buy any of his work, just reach out to Eileen. She’s still living at the end of the dirt road which was tragically paved years ago.
Pete loved skiing, but, could’ve been technically better. He didn’t care. He liked to go fast. He asked Eileen to marry him at the Stoweaway Lodge in Stowe, Vermont owned by his younger brother Bob who happens to be an international skiing legend. Google it!
Pete hated working for the man, so he worked for himself primarily as an independent sales rep of publishing materials sold to schools and libraries all over New England. But then the internet happened and ruined everything.
Pete always had a smile and a laugh. He LOVED reading books. He loved having a beer and a great conversation. He was a true Irishman.
His son Dr. Brady McKee was wicked smart. His son Darren has a good sense of cynical humor. Both of his kids married above their pay grade when they got hitched to Andrea and Kim.
He loved his five grandsons - Dexter, Donovan, Connor, Dylan and Peyton - more than life. He was very, very proud of all of them.
Pete loved living in Ipswich. You all should know he was proud to be from Ipswich. Despite that, he’s being buried in Rockport.
Most of all, Pete was defined by his passionate devotion to his beautiful wife Eileen. There was never a truer or deeper love story than the two of them.
Memorial contributions can be made in his name to St Jude’s Hospital for Children. To send a letter of condolence to the McKee family please go to: MorrisFH.com .
