Peter McLaughlin

Peter McLaughlin, 63, passed away peacefully at Kaplan House Hospice in Danvers, MA, on Wednesday  April 15, 2026, after a lifelong battle with health issues. He had the support of family and friends throughout his life and up through the time of his passing.

He was born in Ipswich, MA, on March 16, 1963.  Peter was the son of the late Paul McLaughlin and the late Lee Boutin (McLaughan, Pelletier).  He was predeceased by Eugene Boutin (stepfather).

Peter is survived by Leslie Russell (sister) and brother-in-law John Russell, stepsister Sandra Corning and her husband Jeff Corning, niece Erin Gilroy and her husband Nicholas Gilroy, niece Jessica Russell, Good Friend David Bamashie and his wife Terry. His beloved pet Peanut, a Yorkshire terrier.  He was also predeceased by his beloved friend Debrah Chittick.

Peter graduated from Ipswich High School and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UMass Boston. He received his Master of Social Work from Boston College before suffering a stroke.  This changed the trajectory of his life, where he adapted and, with hard work, changed to draw and create with his left side after growing up right-side dominant. His art included humor and vibrant colors. He is a published author, “Peter’s Big Heart,” and an entrepreneur. He belonged to the Western Avenue Art studio community in Lowell MA.  He took pride in bringing laughter and joy wherever he went.

Peter will be remembered for his ability to overcome adversity and take challenges head-on without reservation.  He carried on despite the odds stacked against him. He was often joking and making light of hard situations. He will be remembered for his “Big Heart.”

An hour of visitation will be held on Saturday  April  25th.  from 9:00 to 10:00 am in the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main St., Ipswich, MA.  His funeral service will be in the funeral home at  10:00 a.m..
