Peter William ‘Rabbit’ Walke, 73, beloved husband of the late Anne Fay (Heenan), died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Born in Beverly on May 27, 1946, he was the son of the late John T. and Elizabeth J. (Fraser) Walke. Though born in Beverly, he was a life-long resident of the town of Hamilton.
Pete was a graduate of the Hamilton/Wenham Regional High School, Class of 1964. He and his wife Fay were married on May 3, 1969. Pete served in the United States Navy as a submarine torpedoman’s mate from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1972, after which he pursued a career in electronics as a computer technician.
Pete loved to vacation with friends and family, for decades renting a cottage on Little Neck every summer, making annual trips to Myrtle Beach, SC, and in recent years, spending a few winter months in North Fort Myers, FL. In his earlier years, he was active on the local softball field and men’s basketball and bowling leagues, while in his later years he played as much golf as possible. Always a farm boy at heart, Pete loved his post-retirement job running mowers at the Beverly Golf &Tennis Club, and he would never pass up the opportunity to operate a John Deere on a coastal farm in Maine.
Pete is survived by his 2 children: son C.J. Walke and his wife Korah Soll of Bar Harbor, ME, with their children Annabelle(18) and Stella(16), and daughter Jamie Lauranzano and her husband Anthony Lauranzano of Newburyport, with their children Briggs(11) and Libby(8).
