Pola Anne (Antonopoulos) Roumeliotis

Pola Anne (Antonopoulos) Roumeliotis, 77, of Peabody, died September 29, 2018 at Lahey Hospital Burlington, surrounded by her loving family.

She shared over 56 years of marriage to Louis C. Roumeliotis. Together they raised their daughter, Lisa Ellen Roumeliotis, for whom Pola was a devoted and caring mother whose love knew no bounds.

Pola was born to the late John and Ellen (Stimpson) Antonopoulos, on August 28, 1941, in Lowell, Massachusetts. Growing up in Lowell as part of a close family with an entrepreneurial spirit instilled in her the strong values and work ethic that were evident throughout her life in so many ways. 

After her graduation from Lowell High School she went on to attend Lowell Commercial College, where she eventually taught. She then embarked on a successful career as a comptroller, retiring at the age of 76.

Beyond her dedication to family, Pola's caring and support for others was manifested in a number of ways, many of them involving the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Ipswich, MA, where she and Louis spent countless hours supporting the church community and their friend Father John Govostes. Pola was a member of the church choir, the Melissa Society, and volunteered in many roles for church and community functions. Important among them was her tireless work in support of the church's summer Greek festival, where her Loukamatha pastries were always a crowd favorite.

Pola was loved by all who came into contact with her, and she touched many lives. No one could deny the unconditional love she had for all, and how she cared, heart and soul, for each and every soul, beautifully and gracefully.

She is survived by her husband, Louis, her daughter, Lisa, a sister, Ellen-Joan Amick, of Holden, MA, a brother, Charles J. Anton, of Westford, MA and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Ipswich on Thursday October 4th. from 5-8pm.  Funeral Service at The Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church  8 Lafayette Road, Ipswich on Friday October 5th.at 11:00am.
