Richard Thomas Cunningham, 84, of Danvers passed peacefully early Monday morning, February 1, 2021 in Salem Hospital. Born and raised in Ipswich, he was the son of the late James E. and Edith (O’Connell) Cunningham. He was the loving husband of Judith (Houle) Cunningham for over 58 years.
Mr. Cunningham started his career as a shoe salesman. He then went on to work for over 22 years at Waterlac Industries in Danvers. He later finished out his career working for the Commonwealth of MA at Danvers State and Tewksbury State Hospitals. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved to cheer on local sports teams. Richard loved a good joke and was adored by all who knew him. Richard and Judy loved taking day trips around New England and along the Coast of Maine and always enjoyed a great fried clam plate.
Richard is survived by his son, Keith Cunningham and his wife Jacqueline of Danvers, his daughter Karin Chmura and her husband John of Ipswich, and his daughter Kristin Kwiatek of Danvers, his three beautiful granddaughters whom he cherished, Alison Chmura (Kevin Czarnecki) of Salisbury, Lindsay Chmura of Ipswich and Skylar Kwiatek of Danvers, his twin brother James Cunningham and wife Carole of Londonderry, NH, a sister Mary Dort and her late husband Charles Dort of Ipswich, a brother-in-law Joseph Houle and his wife Diana of Sarasota FL, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Edith Blodgett of Peabody. Richard also leaves behind his beloved cat Brady.
