Richard W. Merry

Richard W. Merry, 73, died unexpectedly Monday morning  May 9, 2022  in the Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Danvers.  He was a former long time resident of Ipswich.  Born in Beverly on  July 27, 1948  he was the son of the late Howard and Blanca (Barrios) Merry.

          Richard was raised and educated in Ipswich, he was a graduate of Ipswich High School, Class of 1967.  He played baseball, basketball and football for Ipswich High and was a captain for all 3 teams.  Richard was a self-employed carpenter on the North Shore area for many years.  He loved sports and was very active in the over-30 Ipswich Softball League. He also enjoyed fishing off of Crane Beach.

          Richard is survived by his son  Richard W. Merry, II of Ipswich and his fiancée Stacey Terry, his granddaughter  Adrianna Merry of Beverly.  He is also survived by his 4 brothers:  Howard A. Merry, Jr. and his wife Ellen of NH, Luis Q. Merry of Ipswich, William B. Merry and his wife Linda of Ipswich, George Merry and his wife Kim of Danvers, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by his brother  Russell S. Merry formerly of Ipswich.

          A graveside service will be held Friday May 13th.  at  1:30 P.M.  in the Highland Cemetery  29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich.  Visiting hours will be Friday  May 13th.  from  11:00 A. M to 1:00 P.M.  in the Morris Funeral Home  45 North Main Street, Ipswich, relatives and friend are respectfully invited.  Richard loved animals, in lieu of flowers please make an donation in his name to:  the Ipswich Animal Rescue  P.O.
