Stephen J. Martel

Stephen J. Martel, age 61, of Argilla Road, Ipswich, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Born in Ipswich on December 18, 1960, he was the son of the late Howard J. and M. Marilyn (Oliver) Martel. Stephen was raised in Ipswich, attended local schools, and was a graduate of Whittier Technical High School, specializing in woodworking/boatbuilding. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle. Stephen was a lifelong resident of Ipswich and enjoyed spending time outdoors; he especially liked boating on its waters. Stephen’s greatest passion was music, and was happiest when playing guitar, listening to his extensive collection of vinyl records, or attending a live show.

Stephen is survived by a brother Michael, and his wife Laurinda, of Merrimac, MA, and a sister Laurie, and her husband Mark, of Ipswich. He is also survived by his aunt, Janice Martel of Plum Island, and several nieces, nephews, one great niece and one great nephew, cousins, and lifelong friends. Stephen was predeceased by his brothers Peter and Jason Martel, both of Ipswich.
