Thomas J. Pappas of Ipswich passed away peacefully Saturday November 30, 2019 at Masconomet Healthcare Center after a brief illness. Born on December 2, 1919 in Ipswich, he was the son of John and Jenny Pappas of Beverly, MA. He passed away 2 days before his 100th birthday.
Tom, or Jeep as many people knew him, was a lifelong resident of Ipswich and local clam digger. He loved teaching others how to dig clams.
He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Joanne and Sandy Robins and Ellen and Soph Carinos, all of Ipswich. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jason Robins and Alexandra Burk and her husband, Ian. Tom was looking forward to the birth of his great-granddaughter in January. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Bona, as well as many nieces and nephews and many friends at Cable Gardens were he resided for the past 10 years. He was pre-deceased by his wife Sophie (Georgeopoulos) Pappas with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. He was the brother of the late George, Angelo, Louis, James, Leo and Arnold Pappas and sisters, Helen Stevens, Christine Tilas and Nasha Cardarelli. Tom was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps..
