Thomas J. Zabelski

Thomas J. Zabelski, 66, passed away at home on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

Born on August 27, 1953 and raised in Ipswich, MA he was the son of the late Z. James and Kathryn Zabelski.

He is survived by his three sons: Thomas Zabelski and wife Erin of Newton, NH; Mike Zabelski and wife Kendra; Dustin Zabelski and wife Kate; of Ipswich; and his precious grandchildren Cayden, Zachary and Josephine.

Tom worked as a truck driver for most of his life and loved his job.  His places of employment included S.S. Pierce Inc./Kraft, P.J.Markos Seafood Co., and Centre Trucking Service. 

After retiring, Tom was a fixture in Ipswich still driving around in his truck to all the local hangouts. Some of his favorite spots included Pavilion Beach and the Town Wharf, where after socializing with friends, he passed out candy to their children and biscuits to the dogs.  He was also regularly seen greeting clammers coming in at Eagle Hill Landing with their daily harvest.

He loved watching old movies and the sports teams, especially the Patriot’s and Red Sox.  Locally, you could always catch him at one of the baseball fields enjoying games played by the Chiefs.

Tom loved his family and was very appreciative of all the help he received over the last couple of years due to his declining health.  We will miss him dearly, including that dry sense of humor he had.

Tom is also survived by his siblings:  James Zabelski; Gary Zabelski and partner Claudia Dudgeon; sister Karen Zabelski; and cousin Scott who was like a brother; all of Ipswich.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral service will be held graveside at the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Town Farm Road, Ipswich, MA on Friday, August 7 at 1:00 p.m. 

Family and friends are cordially invited, respecting Covid 19 guidelines for wearing masks and social distancing.  Arrangements are being made by Morris Funeral Home.
