William McGinley Obituary

South Hamilton-  William E. McGinley, 72, passed away peacefully at his home in South Hamilton on Wednesday February 14, 2018 after a brief illness.  Born in Ipswich on March 13, 1945 he was the son of the late Daniel P. and Evelyn (Doyle) McGinley.

                Mr. McGinley was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the US Navy.  He was employed at Sylvania for 27 years.  He was an integral component on two special teams.  One team created the machine that created the Blue Dot Flash Cube for the Kodak Instamatic personal camera.  The other team created the modern headlight system for automobiles, especially the first generation Ford Taurus.  Mr. McGinley was a quiet man who enjoyed helping local families and their children as well as his own nieces and nephews.  He had a camp on East Grand Lake in northern Maine where he enjoyed hunting and salmon fishing with his friends.

                Mr. McGinley is survived by his two brothers and their wives: Paul and Cathleen McGinley of Ipswich,  Donald and Martha McGinley of New Boston, NH.  He is also survived by six nieces and nephews:  Karen McGinley, Deborah Williams, Jamie McGinley, Carey McGinley, Kimber Sprankle and Corin Ducharme as well as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.  Mr. McGinley was also predeceased by his niece Kristen McGinley.

                A funeral service will be held Friday  February 23rd. at  11:00 A.M. at the Morris Funeral Home 45 North Main St. Ipswich.  Private burial with family members will follow at the Hamilton Cemetery, 623 Bay Rd, Hamilton in the family plot.  Visiting hours will be held at the Morris Funeral Home  Thursday  February 22nd.  from 6:00 to 8:00.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Mr. McGinley name to: The Hamilton American Legion Post, 37 School St., South Hamilton, 01982.  To send a condolence to the McGinley family please go to:  MorrisFH.com .
